REXtac polymers
REXtac polymers are used in a variety of applications that place extensive stress upon the adhesive system. Accordingly designed with APAO’s unique polyolefin composition, REXtac polymers provide excellent adhesion to a variety of substrates including:
- Polyethylene
- Polypropylene
- Polyurethane foam
- Paper
- Fiber
By altering the level of ethylene and butene in the polymer, REXtac is able to adjust the open time, tensile strength, softening point, and adhesion of the polymer to meet specific requirements of our clients. In addition, REXtac polymers are generally low in viscosity providing further flexibility to our customers as the products can easily be applied by:
- spraying
- pumping
- roll coating
- slot
For those applications where a high viscosity product is required, REXtac polymers are available at viscosities up to 15,000 cps.
Assembly
The breadth of viscosity and temperature offerings provided by REXtac APAO, allows our adhesives to be used in a variety of assembly applications. REXtac polymers provide outstanding adhesion to a variety of substrates including polyethylene, polypropylene, polyurethane foam, paper, and fiber. These flexible qualities allow REXtac APAO to serve you as a stand-alone adhesive or a component in your specific formulation.
Building & Construction
REXtac APAO provides the durability required by the building and construction industry while maintaining low VOCs. Our adhesives are designed to sustain significant ranges in temperature, thus offering both high heat resistance and cold temperature flexibility dependent upon your needs. As a result of their inherent moisture resistance, REXtac polymers provide an exceptional water barrier in sealant formulations. These polymers are also resistant to acids, alkalis, and other chemicals making them suitable for use in environments where the adhesive and sealant systems are exposed to such conditions.
Furniture
REXtac APAOs are a great solution for the furniture industry due to their low cost, high initial tack, and excellent cohesion. We offer adhesives to meet quick or long open times depending on the repositioning requirement. REXtac polymers deliver optimal adhesion, while providing a reliable finished product, and
high productivity.
Nonwoven
REXtac APAO assists the customer’s performance and efficiency in manufacturing nonwovens by providing quality, low cost adhesive technologies. Our polymers have proven thermal stability, high peel values, and are low in both odor and VOCs. These primary attributes have resulted in REXtac being a preferred supplier of the nonwoven industry.
Packaging
REXtac LLC offers a variety of APAO products used in specialty packaging. REXtac APAOs bond substrates such as foam, corrugate, polypropylene, metal, wood, and paper. Our products range in open times to satisfy slow or fast line speeds. With excellent thermal stability and heat and cold resistance for shipping, REXtac APAOs are a great choice when selecting a specialty packaging adhesive.
Polymer Modification
Due to its low molecular weight and amorphous characteristics, APAO can be added as a minor component in polymer modification to control the melt viscosity, rate of set, or the degree of crystallinity and softness of the host polymer. APAO is best used as a PM when blended with polymers that are similar in chemical nature, such as polyolefins, hydrogenated styrene block copolymers, polybutenes, etc., and also of a molecular weight that is not overwhelmingly different to the molecular weight of the APAO polymer. APAOs can also function as the host or major component of the blend and minor components are added to provide some unique properties that an APAO does not have by itself.
Transportation
REXtac adhesives are a competitive solution for the automotive industry’s high demand for bond longevity and high heat resistance. REXtac polymers provide reliability as a result of their inherent moisture resistance, functionality over a wide range of temperatures, and flexibility to satisfy both interior and exterior automotive adhesive challenges.
Wire & Cable
REXtac polymers are an essential filling and flooding compound for copper and fiber optic telecommunication cables. Their inherent moisture resistance properties prevent water penetration into the inner insulation, protecting the core of the cable, and inhibiting corrosion. REXtac APAOs can sustain a wide range of temperatures while also acting as a cushion and lubricant to protect the cable from damage caused by bending and mechanical handling.
